one pot + hideout = jan 21

the first of a new series of one pots held at the hideout - an ancient seeming baroque den of a bar on first hill, seattle - this was the first dining event within the hideout walls - and they welcomed the long elegant tables - maybe the walls even embraced the just built planks, white linen, candelabras, verdi at extreme volumes, duck deeply braised with old world vegetables, and a veritable river of red wine… a late night dessert casualty, sent a messenger into the night, the answer “donut holes” the response “made the meal” and alternately “michael, that was a fucking cop-out” sneered out of the lips of the otherwise pleased restaurant reviewer. mon dieu, apologies around. a dark day for krispy kreme. - MH
