islands of l.a.

One of the many items I forgot to include in the previous communiques about the 32 mile LA expedition (the artifacts and documentation of which are currently on display at the Pomona College Museum of Art) was the boisterous efforts of a remarkable arts organization called islands of LA. ari and his merry pranksters have made quite a bit of noise by using the traffic islands of los angeles as a place to gather, picnic, play tetherball, hosts lectures. apparently (and I tested this theory with a nice member of the LAPD) traffic islands are a legal place to assemble. Ari joined us for the feast at the end of the arduous walk and we transformed a quaint traffic island into a kind of modern bacchanal.
